Description

These are factory overrun bullets and we have been asked not to identify the manufacturer or the model of bullet, since they are not typically available for reloading.  While we cannot identify the manufacturer, we can say that they are made by a major manufacturer in the United States.  They are a premium bonded boat tail, soft point bullet with a cannelure.  These are worth a lot more than their sale price dictates, but we got them for a good price and are passing the savings on to you.

Pleased with my purchase of these 62gr. bonded core projectiles. Most were very consistent in appearance and construction, looks like maybe some cosmetic “seconds” but still good enough for anything you would normally use it for, personal protection, self-defence, hunting, barrier penetration, etc. I didnt bench rest shoot it for pinpoint accuracy testing, though i was easily hitting a 3/4 sized steel target @ 250m and a 8″ round gong just past that using 1/8 – 16″ Mid AR. I like 5.56N more than .223Rem so i load hotter than most… just starting to see primers flatten, then back off a tiny bit. No issues. I wanted to buy more projectiles, but out of stock as of this review. I guess others like it as much as i do.

I’m pleased with the quality. I saw no evidence of seconds in the 200 I’ve loaded so far. I’ve shot groups from 1-1/8″ to 5/8′ with them from my Ruger AR556.

  3. zuikowarrior (verified owner)

    Make that 5/8″

    Love these.
From a 16″ AR platform with a 1:8 twist – COAL of 2.24 I am getting 2950 fps with 24.6 grains of AR Comp and a SD of 10. These are becoming my “go to” for bonded ammo.

  5. Jacob Kummer (verified owner)

Loaded with CFE223 24gr, loaded to max length per AR15 magazine, rifle used was Colt 6920 LE, 100 yard groups average 0.75-1inch. Will buy again.

Excellent bullet. I load 24.7 gr CFE 223 in a LC case. I am getting 3080 fps (+/- 11) out of my 16″ AR and groups are consistently under 1″. This isnt match accuracy but absolutely awesome for personal protection.

OK, so I don’t write reviews, but in this case I feel like I need to give a shout out to these guys. Just received these from USPS, Bullets we’re in a mailer box inside of a plastic mailer bag. Inside the box the bullets were contained in a heavy plastic bag which in turn was contained inside a Corrosion VOC bag. Also included were some really nice peel and stick re loader labels. Great job!!! My second order with this company, and will definitely be back for more.

I tested this both for accuracy, and expansion.
For expansion I put a thin piece of plywood in front of 5 water jugs. The bullet penetrated 4 water jugs, and fully expanded into a flower shape retaining most of its weight.
Accuracy was good, I was getting 1-MOA, but I could probably shrink the groups if I tinkered with with load. Honestly I was just using a powder throw, and not perfectly measuring each load, so with a little more consistency they would probably perform better, but for my uses 1-MOA is plenty.
These are great quality, and I am about to buy some more. For the price, the performance cannot be beat.

My only question is how low of fps can they still expand to.

My pet load with these is
    25.5 grains of CFE-223 powder
    Wolf Gold Brass
    CCI 450 Primers
    Seated to 2.255

    Tested for accuracy and expansion.
Load: 25.5 grains of CFE223 powder, wolf gold brass, CCI 450 primers, seated 2.255. Loads showed no pressure signs in a 5.56 chamber. But I don’t know if this load is safe in a 223 chamber.

Expansion. I put one thin piece of plywood in front of 5 water jugs, shot from 10 feet. Bullet penetrated 4 water jugs, fully expanded into a flower petal shape, and retained most it’s weight.
These bullets performed just as well as Nosler Bonded performance bullets, and much better than sierra game kings, at half the cost of each.

Accuracy. I charged my loads using a powder throw, with a .3 variance in powder charges ( RCBS ), and I did not clean primer pockets. I was getting 1-MOA accuracy at 100 yards. 5 shot groups at 100 yards were just a hair over an inch. I could probably get better accuracy out of these, but 1-MOA is plenty good for me.

Overall, I feel these are very high quality bullets, and a very good deal.
My only question is how low fps will they still expand? Nosler bonded performance bullets expand down to 1700 fps, but they cost 2x as much as these. The funny thing is, I got better accuracy out of these bullets than I did with either Sierra gamekings, or Nosler bonded performance.

    Your results may vary.

No core/jacket separation, good expansion. I don’t have a chronometer however Ive seen good consistency with no pressure signs using: 22.5gr H335; 25gr Win. 748; 21gr IMR 3031; 23gr IMR 4064; 19gr IMR 4198 (reduced recoil). All with federal brass, CCI #41 primers, case trimmed to 1.75, C.O.L. 2.260
