ParticipantI just received my first RMR bullets. I loaded some 124 gr RN and will try at the range later this week. My question is I also purchased some 124 gr truncated flat points. My Dillon press has a reversible seating die. The shorter end doesn’t seem to fit the flat point. The round nose end seems to fit both bullets pretty close to the same.
Anyone have suggestions or experience loading the flat points?
Thanks! mgApril 12, 2024 at 5:48 am #513087Dan
ParticipantI only use FLAT Point seating plugs for flat points , and ROUND NOSE seating plugs for round nose bullets. This gives the best OAL consistency .
When establishing over all length ( OAL) I always do the “Plunk”test to find the Max OAL for the attended firearm, than go from there. The round my pass the plunk, but still need final adjustment to run consistently. RN and Flat points bullets will differ in OAL. Every weapon is different. It is possible to find the “sweet” length to satisfy MOST of your guns of the same caliber.Campcook

ParticipantI had some issues with using the flat point seating plug that came with my RCBS 3 die set.
RCBS has a seating plug described as Speer Gold Dot. This plug worked great for me. It fit the profile of the Matchwinner truncated cone bullets
