Have been working on ladder testing this bullet. So far, have only used Ramshot Enforcer starting at 14.3gr and have now worked up in .3gr increments to 15.8gr. Results have all been acceptable with good accuracy but still haven’t reached my target of 1300fps in my 6” barreled Colt Trooper MKIII. Using a COL of 1.580 and a light taper crimp followed by a Lee FCD. My last 12 rounds at 15.8gr averaged 1242fps and will try another rung at 16.0 to get closer to my target velocity.

Thanks Long Day Jake! You make some mighty fine bullets and your crew ships them out fast.

I also recently started working up some of these 147gr with Enforcer. There is not a lot of data out there, most all of it is 140gr or 158gr.

I tried 13.5gr and 14.0gr, at 1.590 OAL, CCI small pistol magnum primers. Both ran fine, pretty tame, no signs of pressure. Out of my 4.2″ GP100, the 13.5gr chrono’d 1180fps, and the 14.0gr was 1215fps. I was thinking about going a little higher.

But wow your 15.8gr must be a spicy load. Hard to believe you’re not seeing 1300fps out of a 6″ barrel with that. Ramshot data lists a max load of 16.0gr for a 140gr Sierra going 1457 out of a 6″. What primers are you using?

Also, just for reference, I chrono’d some Geco 158gr factory ammo out of my 4.2″, and it ran 1200fps. It definitely had more kick than my 14.0gr enforcer load.

Spicy is what I was after. My Colt and its brother from another mother, a S&W Highway Patrolman, both love this load. Was at the range again two days ago and entertained myself satisfactorily and left with a big smile. It works for me. Using CCI #550 SPM primers even though Enforcer doesn’t call for it. No pressure signs but it will rock a dueling tree, hard. When I get the time I’ll run it through GRT again to look at pressures.

Good to hear the load is working well for you! I loaded some at 14.5gr, and just might go higher. I’ll try to remember to post chrono results here.

I have always wanted a Highway Patrolman.
