ParticipantLoaded up 100 of the new 120 gr 9mm bullets with the silver zinc alloy jackets today. I had to seat the bullets to a 1.04” overall length to get them to plunk and spin in the short throat of my CZ P-09 barrel. Given the reduced powder space from the deep seating, I decided to load 4.6 gr of BE-86 with CCI-500 primers. No issues loading them on the Dillon RL-550, hoping to test them tomorrow and see how they run over the chronograph.
Anyone else try them out yet? Care to share your experience?October 17, 2024 at 7:53 am #521375deerseeker
ParticipantNot yet. I ordered some and they are arriving Saturday. I am excited to try them. I just checked here to see what others have tried as well. I have some of the primed, nickle cases so I am going for the all silver, anti-werewolf look. I have CFE-Pistol powder and Aguila primers. 4.9 grains at OAL of 1.06″ is working with the regular 124gr nukes in my Glock 43x so I will probably start near there.

ParticipantUpdate: tested my loads listed previously. Functioned fine in both a Glock 19 (15 rounds) and a CZ P-09 (5 rounds). Didn’t shoot for group on paper, but seemed plenty accurate on steel plates at 15 and 25 yards. The bores didn’t show any unusual fouling, cleaned up fine afterwords. Will try again next outing. I like them, and the price is right! Thanks, Jake.

ParticipantI don’t know if I qualify as a high volume shooter and reloader I shoot about 15,000 to 20,000 rounds of my reloaded ammo per year. One thing I’ve noticed recently since changing to RMR’s zinc jacketed bullets is more clean up is required after shooting most of my 9mm pistols. And my only 9mm revolver a Ruger LCR . hates them after only 30 rounds of the same loads I shoot in my pistols the bore of the LCP is coated with Zink. My only 9mm pistol that shows any zink build up in the barrel is one of my Sig P365’s that has a Parker Mountain Machine barrel and compensator.
I have pulled several bullets from my loaded ammo to see if my loading process is undersizing the zinc jacketed bullets but I can’t see much reduction in their diameter. The bullets measure .3555″ before loading and after being pulled .3552″ that .0003″ can’t make a difference,April 11, 2025 at 2:49 pm #530829Kenneth
ParticipantIf the barrel bore diameter of your Parker Mountain Machine barrel is a just a little on the larger side, 0.0003″ just MAY be enough to exacerbate the fouling.
I actually prefer 0.356″ diameter 9mm bullets when shooting lead bullets, because I have a few barrels that slug a little on the large side. They shoot much better with the 0.356″ bullets, and have less fouling than 0.355″. Copper jacketed bullets don’t seem to be as sensitive to my slightly larger bore diameters. Perhaps it is the same with the Zinc jackets.
Also, the barrel – cylinder gap MAY escalate the fouling issue in your Ruger LCR.
I have to add: I have NOT personally tried RMR’s Silver jacketed bullets myself – yet! I am offering this advice, coming from my experiences with lead bullets, and since the zinc jackets are known to be softer than copper jackets, well…
