ParticipantAnyone ever loaded the 69gr bullets with A2495? Want a good load for a 20″ WOA gas gun with both CCI 400 and 41s. Thanks

ParticipantI”ve loaded em with 24.6gr of TAC, CCI450 primer, seated at 2.250″. They worked pretty decent in my 16″ carbine at 2740fps
I’ve also loaded em a tad hotter with 25.7gr of W748, CCI450, also seated at 2.250″, same carbine at 2745fps
I’ve recently backed that last load down to 25.6gr of W748 due to a different LOT# on that powder, but still with decent results, 2700fps
As always, use of any internet load data is strictly at your own risk. For a 20″ gun like yours, I’d definitely suggest starting with lower charge than those mentioned and work up your ladder to find a nice node for your particular gun.June 4, 2024 at 8:53 am #515776Patscrazy
ParticipantAnyone using AR Comp with these 69ers? I’ve tried some of the 75s and they shot well but seeing if my new barrel like these 69s better.
I’ve shot the 75s with 22.4 and 22.9 grains of AR comp. All loaded to 2.255~. No pressure signs. The 10 shots of 22.9 had an average of 2604 fps in my 16” AR15. Going to try 23.1 grains next.
Figured I would start about there for the 69s. Hornady has 23.5 grains of AR Comp as their book max with their 68 bthp. Thinking loading 10 @ 23.2 and 10 @ 23.5.

ParticipantI have shot a bunch of 69’s with AR Comp and the shoot well. My only thought is load 4 rounds up at 22.6, 22.9, 23.2, 23.5, 23.8 (after 23.5 monitor your primers for pressure). That way you are not wasting 20 rounds if your rifle does not like 23.2 or 23.5? 4 round groups will not tell you if a group is AWESOME, but it will 100% tell you if a group is BAD. A 2”-3” group at 100 yards is NOT going to get any better so no need to waste ammo. Then when you fin a 4 shot group that looks great, load up 5-7 to confirm.

ParticipantForgot to update the masses here: The loads with AA2495 performed well with my WOA 20″. Had good success and groups. Load I would use is 23.3gr AA2495, LC, CCI 400, 2.250″. Next on my list is TAC. Thanks for the input.

ParticipantCant help with any AR comp data, most accurate load so far fo me is 24.2 varget at 2.255 coal out of a 20″ barrel.
Wish they could get that dang sawdust out of hollow point, I think this is a pretty good overall bullet though. I ussually do .1 grn increments and watch the groups open and close, not alot you can do with length in an AR….good luckJune 4, 2024 at 5:12 pm #515796Patscrazy
ParticipantThanks for the guidance. I’ve been following the Hornady method lately. So I’ve just been picking charges, that are safe, but near or at book max, that I believe will get me close to a velocity range I want to be at. Starting out with 10 round groups and doing comparisons. Then shooting larger groups based on those. So far my 10 round groups have been similar, all around 1.25-1.5 MOA, but my velocities have been lower than I want. The 69 grain bullets will be faster and hopefully shoot a little better than the 75s and 77 smk I’ve shot up to this point. But if I want to be in 2700+ range with 75/77s with no pressure, I need to try a slower ball powdering 2520 or 2000 MR.

ParticipantI use AA2230 for this 69gr bullet. I consistently get 1/2″ groups @100yds. 18″ 223 Wylde barrel. I do not have the crobo data.
Powder: AA2230
Charge: 22.5gr
COL: 2.255
Primer: CCI 41

Participant67degF, mixed LC, CCI450, 2000MR 27.6gr gave me 2850 fps and good groups. 27.8 gave 2880 but had some swipes.
