ParticipantA few years ago RMR bought out another company and had Nosler 175 grain Custom Competition bullets for sale at a great price, and I stacked them as deep as possible. Here is a recipe that works in my Remington 700 with a 28 inch Pac-Nor 1 in 10 barrel.
Nosler 175 grain Custom Competition Bullet
Sig 30-06 brass
StaBall 6.5 @ 56.5 grains of powder
Winchester Large Rifle primer
Velocity of 2,874 @ 87*I have been able to constantly keep 5 shot groups under an inch, and many of the 10 shot groups I prefer to do were at 1-1.25 inch.
The fifth loading was used to qualify at the local 850 yard range. All misses was because of my lack of ability, and not this load. With that said, the course of fire was pretty easy because of a quility gun, scope, and load combination.
I was able to get 5 loadings with the Sig brass, but it started showing signs of of imminent failure when I started to prepare the cases for the sixth loading. The bad ones were culled, and the rest were prepped, and put away for any type of emergency.
I am in the process of duplicating this load using new Starline brass.
