I use a rotary media separator to separate the pins from the brass.

It works well enough to separate pins from brass, but I’m left with a tub filled with dirty water and the pins. Has anyone tried the paint strainers that fit over a 5 gal bucket to recover the pins from the water?

    Thanks.

I bought the paint strainer and it works great.

If you don’t have a sink to pour the water into you can use one of the Orange Homer Buddy, or any 5 gal, bucket to catch the water. The strainer has a 60 mesh (250 micron?) screen and none of the pins get through.

I have a channel on YouTube. Go there and look up this link. https://youtu.be/RTEZtsDO4a8?si=8qq7I8Fsu-n8CyZs
My method has been working well for almost 10 yrs with the same strainer.

Most SS pins are made from one of the magnetic alloys referred to as the 400 Series. So you can fish out the pins pretty easily for smaller tumbler batches. Horror Freight has inexpensive magnets strong enough to grab pins out of the container and/or police up the floor if you have some got-a-ways. Don’t go too strong or it is harder to scrape the pins back off.

That becomes a bit tedious for larger batches, so I am going try Mr. Teebken’s strainer method. Nice tip!

Frankford arsenal does make a 5 gallon bucket with a sister that you crank our CVS also makes one that actually has a lid I use Frankford Arsenal for years have not tried out to RC one and it works really well. He could actually use it for your corn card media as well
